Beach-Body Ready: Lagree Summer Shape-Up

Beach-Body Ready: Lagree Summer Shape-Up

By Danielle Rosario

Wow, can you believe summer is here already!? Somehow, this hot, sizzling season always finds a way to sneak up on us. And you know what that means? Everyone is scrambling to lock down their summer workout routine with the hope of shaping up a swimsuit-ready bod.

It’s time to hit the beach and start soaking up the sun. Whether you’re about to take a tropical vacation or simply want to rock that bikini, Lagree Fitness has you covered.

Lagree Fitness Essentials for Summer

School is out, and summer vacay vibes are in. As the temperature changes, so do our schedules. But it’s important to keep our fitness routine in check with dynamic workouts such as Lagree.

Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact workout that combines strength training, cardio, and flexibility. Here are a few tips for how to make the most of a Lagree summer lifestyle this season:

  1. Hydrate: During summer, we tend to spend more time outdoors. Sweating under the sun can deplete your body’s water levels. Stay hydrated before, during, and after your Lagree sessions.
  2. Sun protection: Don’t forget the sunscreen! Protect yourself from harmful UV rays while outdoors. It’s okay to soak up the sun from time to time, just make sure you’re protecting your skin.
  3. Lightweight clothing: Opt for breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics to keep cool both in and out of the studio.
  4. Outdoor classes: Take advantage of outdoor workout opportunities. The fresh air and natural surroundings add an extra boost to your workout. Check with your local studios to see if they’ve moved any Megaformers out in the sun for the season.

Nutrition Strategies for Your Summer Shape-Up

No matter how strict you are with your workout, it does no good if it’s not paired with a well-balanced diet.

It’s important to fuel your body both before and after a workout. Before—so you have enough energy to optimize your workout, and after—to help your muscles repair and replenish.

As you strive to sculpt your beach physique, keep these tips in mind as you fuel your body:

  1. Lean proteins: Incorporate lean proteins like grilled chicken, fish, and tofu. They help repair muscles and keep you feeling full.
  2. Colorful veggies and fruits: Load up on colorful veggies and fruits for antioxidants, vitamins, and hydration.
  3. Healthy fats: Avocado, nuts, and olive oil provide essential fats for energy.
  4. Limit processed foods: Cut down on processed snacks and sugary drinks. Opt for whole foods instead.

These are just some suggestions; adjust for what works best for you based on your specific goals, needs, and dietary restrictions.

Beach-Body Boosting Exercises

Whether you’re pressed for time or traveling out of town, it may become more difficult to stick to your regular Lagree routine during the summer. Luckily, a few exercises used in a Lagree class can be performed without a Megaformer. You know what that means—no excuse to not keep up with your summer workout routine! Simply adjust it to fit your current schedule.

While there are countless exercises to choose from, here are a few Lagree-inspired moves to help you get ready to sculpt and tone that beach bod:

  1. Planks: Engage your core, arms, and legs in this challenging move, which can be done either on your hands or forearms. Take a plank variation and target those obliques with side planks.
  2. Sculpted arms: Use resistance bands or light weights for bicep curls, tricep extensions, and shoulder presses. You don’t need to be lifting heavy weights, but the lighter your weights are, the more reps you should be completing.
  3. Booty burn: Target your derrière with lunges, squats, and leg lifts.

Mindset Matters: Staying Motivated and Confident

It’s not the first time you’ve heard someone tell you that mindset matters—and it won’t be the last. But it’s undoubtedly true. Your mindset has a huge effect on your life.

And when we’re feeling down or going through a particularly rough period, the idea of “be positive” is cause enough for an eyeroll. Easier said than done sometimes, right? While motivation is wonderful, it also comes and goes, and so we cannot solely rely on motivation alone.

What are some things you can do to help you stay motivated, confident, and committed?

  1. Set goals: Define what a “beach body” means to you. Is it about feeling strong, confident, or both? When it comes to goals, the more specific, the better. Don’t set a goal to “get in shape,” for example. If that’s your goal, then make sure to dive deeper and define what “in shape” means to you.
  2. Positive affirmations: Remind yourself daily that you’re beautiful and capable. For those of you thinking affirmations aren’t for me—don’t knock it till you try it. There’s no harm in talking to yourself kindly. Words are powerful—use them to your benefit.
  3. Celebrate progress: Make sure to celebrate small victories along the way—whether it’s fitting into a favorite swimsuit or mastering a new exercise. Find ways to have fun and enjoy the process.

Maintaining Your Beach Body Beyond Summer

I’m sure we can all relate to having nailed down that killer beach body, only to let it slip away as fall rolls in. Before you know it, the holidays are here (and we all know that’s one of the most challenging times to stay fit).

While some fluctuation is completely normal, there are things you can do to help you maintain your sexy summer body you worked so hard for.

  1. Self-care: Prioritize rest, recovery, and self-love. Treat your body like a temple and talk to yourself as you would talk to your favorite person.
  2. Year-round nutrition: Continue eating well-balanced meals and staying hydrated. Mix things up with seasonal veggies and fruits. Some of my favorites are juicy watermelon slices in the summer and butternut squash-based dishes in the fall. Enjoy yourself at celebrations and holiday gatherings, just don’t over-indulge.
  3. Variety: Just as switching up your go-to veggies or fruits can keep you from getting bored with your diet, mixing up your workouts to prevent boredom and plateaus when it comes to your summer workout routine is recommended. Maybe add a hike or outdoor activity into your schedule once a week. Grab a buddy and be adventurous!
  4. Consistency is the key to success in all areas of life, including fitness. Keep up with your Lagree workouts even after summer ends. Just because sweater season sneaks up on us doesn’t mean we have to lose sight of maintaining those sculpted arms and core.

Conclusion

Embrace the Lagree summer shape-up energy and rock that beach body with confidence. Keep that summer workout routine sizzling as the temperature rises.

Remember, it’s not just about how you look—it’s about feeling strong, healthy, and ready to enjoy the sunny days ahead! What are you waiting for? Sign up for your first class today!
